Sonia Colona Mathis Multi-Media Artist and Framer

If it could be said that someone lives, eats, and breathes art, it would be true in the case of Sonia Colonna Mathis. She has worked in Watercolor, Pastel, Oil, Acrylic, Ink, Pencil, Metal, Clay, and several forms of Printmaking. She is currently exploring painting and drawing with toothbrushes and acrylic inks. She is recognized for her unique view of the world, combining ancient mythology, iconography, fables, and rhymes with portraits and character references of animals and humans in a dark, whimsical, and often humorous manner. She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art from The University of Texas at Austin, and continued her growth and curiosity as an artist with The Williamson County Art Guild. She opened her own art gallery and picture frame shop called Stinger Studio in the fall of 2010 and joined Georgetown Art Works to expand the art experience in her hometown of Georgetown Texas. She has juried art shows in Round Rock, Georgetown, and Taylor. She also teaches classes in expressive painting and mask making/sculpting with Crayola MoldelMagic Clay.
